Reisen is a projectile-oriented keepaway character that also utilizes methods of deception to lure an opponent into making a false move and then reacting accordingly; perhaps the most notable example of this is in her Trick Kick Command Normal, which shares an almost identical startup animation as her low-hitting Crouching Heavy Attack, only be revealed as a visual illusion as the real Reisen attacks with an overhead kick that hits high, creating a mix-up situation. Reisen can also utilize different fields she can place on stage to give herself invisibility and projectile immunity, or to produce an illusion of a clone that greatly extends the hitbox range of her melee attacks, further improving her pressure game.

Pros

  • Incredibly easy to both play and get results with.
  • The character has a wide variety of projectiles that either hit screenwide or aren't reliant on proper spacing.
  • Has a strong mix-up game that carries little risk for the reward it can offer.
  • Reisen has several tools that can aid in approaching should she want to go melee for any reason.
  • Clones up Reisen's pressure game from already strong to utterly ridiculous, even if only temporarily.
  • Mind Explosion is an amazing projectile that explodes with a hitbox when it makes contact with something, punishing opponents who try to destroy it while it's near them; it can also be used to make Reisen safe at the end of her blockstrings.
  • As well as being her Special reversal, Undersense Break having a bitbox that reaches behind Reisen and being assigned to both DP.png and RDP.png makes it a fantastic anti-crossup tool.
  • Spell Breaking Drug is one of few moves that can deplete an opponent's Power, thus is very good at preventing opponents from using their Guard Cancels, Spell Cards, and Last Words.
  • Can reliably convert off most knockdown or OTG situations with "Lunacy Ray" and "Lunatic Echo".

Cons

  • The character's melee Normals are a bit lacking in the range department, barring Crouching Medium Attack and Aerial Heavy Attack.
  • Has sub-par melee comboability.
  • Needs to lose Life in order to gain access to additional Spell Breaking Drugs, the last of which is obtained at a dangerously low 10% Life; furthermore, finding opportunities to use Spell Breaking Drug can be difficult and counterproductive to Reisen's keepaway playstyle.
  • Can struggle to deal with some melee pressure situations, owing to the lack of horizontal range on her Normals and Special reversal.
